This gentleman has a very long follow up from a nerve transfer designed to improve the ability to dorsiflex his foot (lift up the foot). We transfered a nerve from the back of his leg that used to push the foot downward and attached it to the nerve that used to pick his foot up. After about 6 months of recovery, he learned how to make his foot move again. Prior to surgery he was not able to lift his foot up at all. Now he can do this without thinking. He is now applying for the Coast Guard. This was a very successful procedure. This is a rare procedure for a foot drop. If you or a person you know suffer from similar pain, Dr. Eric H Williams would be happy to discuss this with you at the Dellon Institute for Peripheral Nerve Surgery in Baltimore, Maryland.
