All the cosmetics in this video are authentic ancient recipes or made extremely close to them. This is an accurate look at just one of many ways a makeup-wearing Roman woman could have appeared. The makeup formulas are very messy and have a strong odor because of the lard base -- perhaps by firelight it would have looked natural. This type of makeup actually remained pretty popular in Europe right into the 20th century, and it is appropriate for makeup looks in many historical eras including Medieval and 1920s/Flapper. The foundation or "BB cream" was homemade and is documented in my previous video at    • ASMR - Ancient Roman BB Cream Recipe - Aut...   Romans used various black pigments for their eyeliner, and for safety's sake I used Bare Minerals Shadow Liner in Onyx, since I know the ingredients are safe by modern standards.
