This is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2024 Mazda 3 hatchback, manual, compact car. What’s New? Gone is the 2L powertrain option and the 6-speed manual transmission offering on the base model. Now it’s the non-turbo GT and 2.5 S Premium trims that have a standard manual transmission, these are FWD models. Mazda 3 adds a new trim, in Canada, the Suna Turbo and in the US, the Carbon Turbo with a Zircon Sand exterior and terracotta/black interior. There’s also a new available 10.25” display that becomes a touchscreen when using Apple Carplay and Android Auto, available wireless. Mazda has added a manual transmission to a higher trim level. It is a lot of fun to drive, it’s responsive, nimble but also very refined, the ride is quite smooth and compliant making it a great daily driver and the steering is well balanced. The 6-speed automatic transmission is available on all models . Standard features on the 2024 Mazda3 include, a meter-set and 7” LCD display, an 8.8” centre display with Mazda Connect, wired Apple Carplay and Android Auto, 8-way manual driver seat, 4-way manual passenger seat, cloth upholstery, heated front seats, push button start, key-less entry and blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. In the US, leatherette upholstery is standard. Here’s the fuel economy, the Mazda3 2.5L FWD 8.5L/100 km, 27 MPG city and 6.5L/100 km, 35 MPG highway. 2.5L AWD 9.0L/100 km, 26 MPG city, 7.1L/100 km, 33 MPG highway. 2.5T AWD 10.1L/100 km, 23 MPG city and 7.5L/100 km, 31 MPG highway.
