Take a real-time ride on Winnipeg Transit’s BLUE Bus Rapid Transit from the University of Manitoba to Downtown Winnipeg, at Balmoral Station. Winnipeg Transit’s current bus rapid transit services use the Southwest Transitway, a bus-only roadway separated from regular traffic and roughly parallel to Pembina Highway. Buses enter and exit the Southwest Transitway at multiple locations to service neighbourhoods and other destinations including Downtown Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba. The Southwest Transitway opened in two phases, with the first phase beginning operation in April 2012 between Downtown Winnipeg and Jubilee Stations. The second phase, completing the Southwest Transitway, opened in April 2020. Initially, the Southwest Transitway operated as an ‘open busway’ service giving multiple routes servicing outlying neighbourhoods a one-seat ride into Downtown Winnipeg. With the opening of Phase 2 of the Southwest Transitway transit services in the south end of the city were mainly transitioned to a ‘spine and feeder’ service and included the inauguration of the ‘BLUE Bus Rapid Transit’ route. Some local bus routes continue to use portions of the Southwest Transitway. The BLUE Bus Rapid Transit route is the first of a network of rapid transit routes identified in the Winnipeg Transit Master Plan intended to service all corners of the City of Winnipeg. The BLUE route currently operates with two service branches originating at Balmoral Station in Downtown Winnipeg; one branch operates to the University of Manitoba while the other branch operates along the Pembina Highway to St. Norbert. All footage captured in this video was recorded on August 22, 2023. All filming was completed under authorization from Winnipeg Transit, the City of Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba. 🗺️ Download the official video companion line diagram for this video at: https://watershedvp.ca/home/travel-tr... 🗺️ 📡 Follow Grand River Travel & Transportation on social media! 📡 👉 Facebook: / grandrivertraveltransportation 👉 Reddit: / gr_traveltransport 👉 Instagram: / grandriver_traveltransport 👉 X: https://x.com/gr_traveltransp 00:00:00 🟢 Intro 00:00:10 🔖 Title 00:00:32 🚏 University of Manitoba Station 00:02:05 🚏 Dafoe/Agriculture 00:02:55 🚏 University/Chancellor Matheson 00:03:55 🚏 University Crescent - IGF Station 00:07:57 🚏 Southpark Station 00:09:39 🚏 Chancellor Station 00:10:50 🚏 Plaza Station 00:13:16 🚏 Chevrier Station 00:13:57 🚏 Clarence Station 00:15:23 🚏 Seel Station 00:16:56 🚏 Beaumont Station 00:18:42 🚏 Jubilee Station 00:20:04 🚏 Fort Rouge Station 00:21:45 🚏 Osborne Station 00:22:56 🚏 Harkness Station 00:25:18 🚏 Mayfair/Queen Elizabeth 00:26:45 🚏 Main/Assiniboine 00:27:10 🚏 Main/Broadway (Union Station) 00:29:29 🚏 Graham/Garry (Winnipeg Square) 00:30:41 🚏 Graham/Donald (Canada Life Centre) 00:32:09 🚏 Graham/Edmonton (RWB) 00:33:18 🚏 Graham/Vaughan (HBC) 00:35:58 🚏 Portage/Colony 00:37:04 🚏 Balmoral Station 00:37:28 ❣️ Thanks for Watching! 00:37:36 🔴 Outro Copyright © 2023 Watershed Video Productions Inc. 🍁 All rights reserved.
