In honor of Native American Heritage Month coming up in a few days, I feel it is important for our people to take a look back on the Unity our Tribe has strived for. In August, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation held its annual Powwow known as Schemitzun, the Feast of Green Corn & Dance. This video exemplifies the qualities and values that our Tribe holds down to its very roots. Through centuries, our Tribe has endured and persevered in the face of genocide, poverty and oppression. But we are still here, and together we are strong. I am so happy that I finally get to share with you all my video that demonstrates not just for Pequots, but for all Native Americans that we will rise above and beyond any force on this Earth.
