The training vessel returned just hours before the worst blizzard since 1978. She came home from a historic voyage marking the first time in her career that she transited the Panama Canal, a major milestone for both the ship and the cadets who sailed aboard her. Watch as she makes her way through Cape Cod Bay, enters the Cape Cod Canal, passes beneath the Sagamore Bridge and the Buzzards Bay Railroad Bridge, and finally arrives at Massachusetts Maritime Academy to waiting parents, family, and staff who had been counting the days until this moment. While editing this footage I lost power from Sunday until early Thursday during the blizzard. After a week with no power I was then hit with Diverticulitis that nearly went septic and began affecting my kidneys. It also aggravated the ongoing effects of my cancer and the treatment that comes with it. After essentially being down for two weeks, I am happy to finally share the return with all of you! For more than ten years I have created these cinematic presentations simply because moments like this deserve to be preserved. Many families cannot be there in person, and these films allow parents and loved ones to witness something truly meaningful: the return of their cadet, son, or daughter after a defining chapter of their journey at sea.
