For decades, animal rights activists have been protesting the cruelty and exploitation involved in the horse-drawn carriage industry, urging its banning. Recently, the Dept. of Transportation held hearings to get input from these activists and the carriage drivers on whether or not to move the hack (waiting for customers) line into Central Park and out of city traffic, noise, chaos and pollution.
