Komatsu’s 102-ton PC900LC-11 is a large workhorse designed for hefty production. In the video above, product marketing manager Casey Zbinden gives us a walkaround tour of the 543-horsepower earthmover. With its 8-cubic-yard bucket, the PC900 is designed to fill the bed of a 44-ton-payload articulated dump truck in four passes. Komatsu gave the excavator the following improvements over its predecessor, the PC800LC-8: 10% more engine horsepower. 11% stronger bucket digging force. 48% more productive, with the higher horsepower, larger bucket and improved hydraulics combining to increase cycle times. 40% more efficient, thanks to a Tier 4 Final engine and enhanced hydraulic circuits. The company says the PC900 is geared for construction, mass excavation, material handling, deep sewer and water installations, and mining/quarry environments. It also features a removable counterweight and a lower-positioned boom to make it easier for transport. Here are some quick specs of the PC900LC-11: Operating weight: 204,148 lbs.
