2001: a Space Odyssey; Discovery One... Ambience

Discovery One Interior ambience — hey, we're back at the movies and inside everyone's favorite Jupiter-bound phallus rocket. The audio for this episode is based on a composite of the internal Discovery-1 scenes from ⁠2001: A Space Odyssey⁠. It is primarily based on the circuit tests (about an hour and thirteen minutes into the 1968 film). I've also added some orchestra elements. The visuals are meant to put you in the seat of Discovery One's doomed occupants staring at screen doing someting that looks like legit science, or math or whatever. (Visuals were built between photoshop and after effects). My parents forced me to watch 2001: A Space Odyssey on the Home Box Office in the 1980s. I know how much ⁠everyone loves the Space Odyssey⁠, but I was utterly coerced. “It’s in space, like Star Wars,” they said. “Is it actually like Star Wars?” My parents played the same “it’s like Star Wars” sh!t with John Carpenter’s the Thing, and I had spider-face nightmares for years.
