SM LRT 2 Antipolo Elevated Walkway The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) is enhancing the linkage of the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2), this time, by connecting the Antipolo Station to SM City Masinag for ease of transfer. LRT-2 operator LRTA is pulling all the stops to improve passenger access to the railway, signing a memorandum of agreement with SM Supermalls for an infrastructure project. The memorandum covers the construction of the LRT-2 Antipolo Station Interconnection Access Bridge, a pathway that links the LRT-2’s easternmost stop with SM City Masinag The project will provide commuters with a safe, direct and all-weather bridge between the LRT-2 and SM City Masinag. The bridge is designed to expand accessibility and mobility in the area by directly connecting the railway and the mall, which are separated by a few steps only. The bridge will be equipped with adequate lighting, ventilation systems and clear wayfinders. It will also be monitored by security personnel and surveillance cameras for passenger safety. Construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026, and once the project is completed, it is expected to ease passenger movement, particularly during peak hours and rainy days. The LRTA, as part of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), is finding ways to improve the interconnectivity of the light rail system for passenger comfort. For so long, the LRT-2 has been linked to the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) via its Araneta Center-Cubao Station, made possible through pathways in Gateway Mall and Farmers Plaza.
