I Went To Ukraine's Most Dangerous Border Town 🇺🇦

I wanted to explore Eastern Ukraine during the war to see what life is really like near the Russian border. I started in Lviv in western Ukraine and even that far from the front line I found war damage from missile strikes. Then I went to Kyiv and saw destroyed buildings, war propaganda everywhere, and memorials for soldiers killed fighting Russia. But I wanted to go closer to the action, so I took a train to Sumy, a city only 15 miles from the Russian border. When I arrived at Sumy, Ukrainian military stopped me and searched my phone checking my Telegram for any +7 Russian phone numbers to make sure I wasn't a spy. Walking through the city was completely insane - the university was blown up, apartment buildings had massive holes from missiles, and entire streets were destroyed from shelling. Most foreigners and journalists left this area months ago, but locals are still living here with constant air raid sirens. This was the closest I've been to an active war zone and showed me the real impact of the Russia Ukraine conflict that most people never see.
