Professor Witt studies how a person's ability to act influences perception. For example, baseball players who are hitting well see the ball as bigger. People who are fatigued or out of shape see hills as steeper. Objects that are within reach look closer. These findings demonstrate an important role of action in the basic processes of perception Jessica Witt is an Associate Professor at Colorado State University, in the Department of Psychology. She studies how a person's ability to act influences perception. She is also a Gold medalist who competed on the US National Ultimate Frisbee team in 2005. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
