Recent water sampling from the Potomac River shows E.coli levels remain significantly above safe recreational limits, according to the Potomac Riverkeeper Network. Testing from Feb. 12 and Feb.17 indicates contamination persists at key sites, including Lock 10 and Fletcher’s Cove, according to officials. This comes after the spill began Jan. 19 when a sewer pipe near the Interstate 495 and Clara Barton Parkway interchange collapsed.
