The powerful magicians of Egypt, masters of the dark arts, have no doubt about the plagues God sends to set his people free: “this is the finger of God,” they inform Pharaoh. Even though Pharaoh witnesses the Lord setting apart the land of Goshen, where the People of God dwell (so that everyone may know that he is the Lord their God), Pharaoh remains hardened in heart.
