The German Orthodox Trinity Monastery in Buchhagen, is an Orthodox monastery in Lower Saxony, Germany. The monastery belongs to the Bulgarian Orthodox Diocese of West/ and Centraleurope since 1993, but remains a German community of monastics lead by Abbot Johannes. The founder of the monastery, Abbot Johannes originally studied music and religious studies in Berlin and came in touch with Orthodoxy in the 1970s. After his conversion to the Orthodox Christian faith he became a monk at Mount Athos and received the highest monastic consecration. After a small monastic community came together in Germany, and the necessary financial means have been raised, 1990 a Foundation was established and after a long search a property in Buchhagen was purchased. Most of the construction work the monks do by themselves and occasionally with the help of friends.
