The Chauderon gorges are gorges formed in the terminal part of the river la Baye de Montreux just before it flows into the town of Montreux and into Lake Geneva. They are located in the Vaud Riviera in Switzerland. The Baye de Montreux has its source on the western slope of the Cape au Moine. La Torpille proposes a circuit in the form of a loop Planches - Chauderon gorges - Glion - Planches. The length of the hike is 3.9 km with a positive difference in altitude of 300 meters. The duration of the hike will take about 2 hours. The Planches are located on the heights of Montreux and are accessible on foot or with the Rochers de Naye train. The trail passes under the bridge of the Lausanne - Villeneuve highway and next to two of its piers then goes up the river for about 2 kilometers. It has many steps and can be slippery in wet weather. So you have to be very careful with small children. The river has in places dug very deep gorges. Finally, one arrives at a series of yellow signposts which mark the top of the course of the gorges and one follows the direction Glion. On the way to Glion, we pass by the Chauderon Gorges Reserve and its goats. Arrived at the station of Glion, one enjoys a beautiful view of Lake Geneva with for example the castle of Chillon.
