SATURDAY 9th October 19.00-19.30 CET FREIBAD, Neubad https://basta037.wixsite.com/freibad To open a new season of MUSIC//BAR//NONE Fiona Kizzie Lee, Arthur Wilkens, Julia Marty, Pascal Renaud and Dirk Letsch will be joining me to sing and play some rare 15th century music. Composed by John Hothby, an English composer who spent most of his life in Italy as a Carmelite monk, this polyphony was found hidden away between the well know, highly ornamented keyboard pieces in the Faenza Codex. Written ca 1470, about a generation later than the original music in the manuscript, these handful of pieces give us a rare glimpse into the compositional world of this illusive composer. To capture this England-Italy fusion we will be drinking GIN & IT a classical cocktail GIN & IT 2 shots gin 1 shot martini rosso Orange bitters to taste Combine the gin and martini in a large glass with ice. Stir and pour into a chilled cocktail glass adding orange bitters if desired. This classic but now rather old fashioned cocktail is similar to a standard modern martini but uses the sweeter Italian red vermouth instead of the dry french white variety. It was popular both sides of the Atlantic and got its name from a shortened version of 'Gin & Italian'.
