Verbatim français: English verbatim: Résumé Le syndrome d’amplification de la douleur est une maladie rare et très douloureuse qui se manifeste par une douleur intermittente ou constante dans tout le corps. Il peut être localisé ou généralisé et correspond exactement à sa description : la douleur musculosquelettique ressentie est disproportionnée (amplifiée) par rapport à la cause sous-jacente. Elle affecte à la fois le patient et sa famille. En outre, la nature invisible de cette maladie est un stigmate supplémentaire. Cependant, ma présentation souligne qu'avec un traitement approprié, une persévérance personnelle et le soutien de la famille, il est possible de retrouver presque miraculeusement un mode de vie normal. Abstract Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome (AMPS) is a rare and very painful medical condition where a person feels either intermittent or constant pain anywhere in the body. It can be localized or throughout the body and is exactly as it is described – the musculoskeletal pain experienced is out of proportion (amplified) in relation to the underlying cause. It affects both the patient and the family, and furthermore, the invisible nature of the condition is an added stigma. However, my talk highlights that with proper treatment, personal perseverance and family support, it is possible to almost miraculously return to a normal lifestyle. Biographie : Jacqueline est une étudiante en deuxième année du programme de soins infirmiers au cégep, déterminée à aider un jour les enfants vivant avec des douleurs complexes. Elle est atteinte du syndrome de douleur musculosquelettique amplifiée, une affection qui a provoqué des douleurs atroces et persistantes dans tout son corps.
