Neil & Max’s epic balloon flight over the Soğanli Valley. Due to high winds, we were unable to fly over Cappadocia but fortunately, it was okay here although it was a bumpy landing! This is part of our 4-day trip to the Cappadocia region. Staying in Ürgüp we visited many spectacular & diverse parts, even taking a trip out to Mount Erciyes, which is a 12,000' dormant strato volcano. I cannot recommend this area enough to anyone who wishes to visit. Remember its NOT just one place but many individual connected towns and valleys with vastly differing geology and history. We based ourselves in Ürgüp and using our hire car, visited: Ortahisar Castle Pidgeon Valley Göreme Open Air Museum Çavuşin Paşabağlari (With a stop on the way) Zelve Open Air museum Imagination Valley The Three Beauties (Üç Güzeller) near Ürgüp Mount Erciyes (12,000' Strato-volcano) Fairy Chimney house "Tipiktürkevi" in Uçhisar Derinkuyu undergound city We intend to go further afield and will definitely stop here again to admire the natural beauty of this wonderful region. If you are driving back anywhere close to Antalya, I can recommend the D687 from Beyşehir to Antalya but after Başlar, take the mountain road, not the tunnel.
