Canon EOS R6 Hybrid Wedding = Awesome! Howdy! This video will delve into how I approached my second wedding ever and capitalized on the time while traveling. For this wedding we traveled from Maryland to Austin, Texas to create a 9 minute video as well as a gallery of photos shot with the Canon EOS R6, EOS R, and EOS RP. Lenses used for this wedding were the Canon RF 70-200 F2.8, RF 35 F1.8, RF 24-105 F4, and Samyang RF AF 85 1.4. The DJI Mavic Air 2 and GoPro Hero 8 were also used on the trip. In a near future video I will be going in depth into what settings and techniques were used for providing hybrid photo video coverage during a fast paced and pressure on event. Below will be links to some of the photos taken as well as a link to the video delivered to the clients. The vlog was filmed with the Canon EOS RP, RF 24-105 F4, and Røde Wireless Go mic. The R6 + battery grip performed exceptionally during the wedding and was the primary and most used camera of the day. My most used lens is the Canon RF 70-200 F2.8. I shot exclusively in 1080p and Compressed RAW. I mostly used AF servo tracking with the single point to start the track. I shoot in Fv or C3(programmed similar to Fv) and set the movie settings of that mode to be 60 FPS so I just press the record button while in C3/Fv to start recording instantly, then am right back into photos after a second press. I prefer to have the camera automatically setting the shutter and ISO so I can maximize speed. If needed I can adjust the exposure compensation during this style of video. The other option is to use the dial to switch between Movie and C3 modes. Because I am slowing down 60fps video to 24fps during edit I don’t have to be as particular with manual movie settings The microphone volume and exposure compensation really is enough to get the job done. By the end of the night the camera was hot on the grip but never indicated overheating. There was a micro second lag on the record button when attempting to regularly switch between photo and video but remained functional. More testing and experience with this specifically to come in the future. Firmware 1.1.0 on R6. Peak Designs Everyday Backpack 20L V2 and Messenger 13L were used for the trip.
