finally, the long awaited part 2 to floating under the expanse of stars, made in FL Studio with Noire Pure piano, SWAM violin + cello, and stock string section (and generously soaked in ValhallaShimmer) i actually had the part 2 to this song partially written down already when i released the first part (hence the fade out at the end of the first video), but because the entire song is pretty long i put out the first part by itself to gauge audience reaction, and at the time of writing it is my most popular upload yet! (*^▽^*) so i hope you enjoy the second part just as much as the first (if not more), and of course, thanks for listening :D and join the solare system discord if you havent already ♪(^∇^*) / discord (warning big wall of text about composition below) when i first started floating under the expanse of stars, i had the main five-note motif (e-d-e-a-b) in mind throughout writing, along with a simple C major - D major - E minor - G major progression to go with it but with some experimenting i found that the motif also works with a progression like F major - G major - A minor - C major, without needing to even transpose the melody so i established two sections, one in the key of G major and one (that starts) in the key of A minor, and thats one of the main reasons why there's two parts :) also, you might have noticed that the violin and orchestral parts take a more prominent role in this part :O this is actually because when the first part was initially being written i didnt actually have either the violin or orchestra! when i started writing part 1 it was originally just supposed to be a piano piece but im glad i added them on a whim and decided to keep using it (•̀ω•́)✧ while i was writing part 2 i knew that it was going to be tricky since an emotional climax of sorts was already established in part 1, so i needed some more development on the melody in the second part to make it actually satisfying as a whole so i tried to create variations on the melody by flipping it, both left-to-right and upside-down(sort of), and it actually sounded good so that's what i went with :3 i suppose overall that means the five-note motif appears in a total of three different "variations" so to speak (four if including different rhythms) which is really cool :D ok yapping over i hope you love this as much as i loved making it (✿◡‿◡)
