This digitised film footage, taken on the 23rd of April 1960 shows the presentation of eight pipe banners to The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) by Lanark County Council. The eight banners were presented by Provost Stoddart of Lanark and received by the Colonel of the Regiment, General Sir Horatius Murray. The ceremony took place on a beautiful sunny day at the bottom of Lanark High Street. Each of the eight banners was attached to bagpipes and paraded by the Pipers of the 1st Battalion in front of a crowd of guests and spectators. The original film is part of South Lanarkshire Council's museum collection and its digitisation is part of continuing collections development work undertaken by museum staff. It was catalogued and digitised as part of a project kindly funded by Museums Galleries Scotland. © South Lanarkshire Council
