All of Us - A tribute to Sion Sono

Short film shot for Celluloid short film competition in Pegasus Festival 2012. Won second prize. This short film is a tribute to Japanese cult horror movie director and poet Sion Sono. Sion Sono uses horror and disgust to ask hard questions while we went the diametrically opposite way and did a reverse tribute by going nice on his concepts.. There are three chapters each based on a movie name of Mr Sono's. Chapters being Poetry Circle, Smile exposure and Noriko's Way based on movie names Suicide circle, Love exposure and Noriko's Dinner table. Poetry Circle is a poem written by Aneesh Joseph. Visual haiku segment has been influenced by viewing Kenneth Angers works (who has also influenced greatly the music video makers of our generation). The main themes are oneness of the universe, Chinese concept of Tao (the Way in which the Universe works), Buddhist concept of fixation on objects, people or ideas(instead of seeing their fluid nature) causing suffering, christian concept of the seven deadly sins, importance of the observer (Schrodinger's cat), self discovery, transcedentalism, etc.
