Located in the Boso Peninsula in Chiba, Nokogiriyama (aka Sawtooth Mountain) is a relatively easy hike, with a lot more than a view to reward you at the top. Mount Nokogiriyama (鋸山) is a 330-meter tall mountain along the western coast of the Boso Peninsula. The grounds of Nihon Dera Temple, the site of the biggest Buddha in Japan, is a 10-minute walk from the top of the ropeway. There are various entry points into the temple grounds. The regular approach starts at the bottom of the mountain; however, most people enter further up via parking areas or by ropeway as most of the temple's main attractions are located at higher altitudes. How to get there: By train About 1 1/2 hours train ride from Tokyo Station to Hama Kanaya Station and walk 10 minutes to the lower station of the Nokogiriyama Ropeway which lifts visitors close to the peak of Nokogiriyama. Admission Fee: 700 yen Ropeway fee: Adult: One way 500 yen; Round trip 950 yen Child: One way 250 yen; Round trip 450 yen
