Dancing the Waves - Written by Terry Barter Mandocello/Mandolin: Terry Barter Cello: Rose Hull © SKINDEPENDENT UK Based in Bristol, England, Skin the Peeler were formed in the late 70s by mandolin player Terry Barter and saxophonist Rod Salter. The band operated during 1984 as a folk/ jazz/ rock fusion band It was a Celtic influenced band using traditional and self-composed music. During the 80s and early 90s, Skin the Peeler played all the major festivals, art centres and folk clubs around the UK. Their first album simply called ‘Skin the Peeler featured their interpretation of many Celtic melodies. Their esoteric World Dance album contains influences from Eire, Africa, and Java, among others. Their final Album was called ‘Friends and Lovers’ which contained some of their best self-penned works. During the late 90s until now, Terry Barter and Rose Hull formed the ‘Peeler Small Quartet Project” writing new material and releasing it digitally, with various members of the band past and present.
