PVR is the most common cause of failure in RD surgery. In this case we can see the approach to treat subretinal bands. Sometimes you need to place a PFCL liquid bubble to identifiy those membranes that will prevent flattening on the retina and that need to be removed To remove it, first use an endocautery and then a small retinotomy is made over the subretinal band. Then you can use a retinal forceps to pull it out through the retinotomy. For this step, you can try to remove the subretinal band completely in one piece, or it may be simply divided and allowed to retract under the retina.
