Donald Trump may have set a new record for the number of lies that he has told in a single speech. During a rally in Racine, Wisconsin this week, CNN fact checker Daniel Dale was able to identify at least 30 lies in the 90-minute speech, giving Trump a one lie every 3 minutes record. The problem isn't just THAT he lies, it is that he lies about everything, including things that don't even matter to anyone but him. But this is his coping mechanism to protect his fragile ego, as Farron Cousins explains. Link - https://newrepublic.com/post/182883/t... Donald Trump may have set a new record for himself with the number of lies that he told in a single speech this week in racing Wisconsin. Earlier this week, Donald Trump, of course, held a rally. A lot of the things that he said during that rally have been making headlines for the remainder of the week. But CNN's Daniel Dale, who is kind of like their lead fact checker, did a fact check of Donald Trump's roughly 90, uh, minute speech. It was a little under 90 minutes, but we'll go with 90. During that 90 ish minute speech, Daniel Dale was able to identify at least 30 verifiable lies that Donald Trump told, which means Donald Trump told on average, one lie every three minutes during his speech in Wisconsin. And the reason that number's not higher, right? The reason we don't have a, you know, better lie per minute ratio is because as Daniel Dale explained, Trump actually repeated himself a lot. You know, he'll say like, oh, I have the best numbers. They're great numbers. The numbers are good numbers. We love our numbers, don't we, folks? Numbers and number. So when he starts repeating, that fills time with things that aren't necessarily a lie, or he'll say the same lie over and over to stretch it out to one minute. So that's why, you know, if he didn't do that, we'd probably have like a lie per minute. So his little linguistic tricks there when he cognitively malfunctions, that actually helps him spread out the lie per minute ratio. But here's what Dale identified. Trump said there was world peace in 2020. There very much was not. He said he won Wisconsin in 2020. He lost. He said The Democrats rigged the 2020 election. That's a lie. He said, people around President Biden cheat on elections. No, they don't. He said, people's votes tend to disappear. They simply do not. Dale pointed out that although Trump claimed to have saved Kenosha in 2020 from riots, it was actually Democratic Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, who sent the National Guard to the city before Trump ever told him to. Uh, Trump also said that hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of, uh, uh, nose candy, we'll call it, were found in the White House last month. But that actually didn't happen. It was a tiny bag that was found 11 months ago. Uh, Trump repeated, invented numbers about immigration, the crime rates in Venezuela, and the number of people who've crossed the southern border. Um, he lied that he pulled American troops out of Syria. He lied that he lowered the trade deficit with China, and this is the kicker. He even lied about what he did last week. So it's not just like, oh, during my presidency I did all these things that you probably can't remember if I did 'em or not. Um, he lied about what he did a week ago. He said he went to Washington, DC for one of his quote mini trials, But he was in DC meeting with Republican. He doesn't have an active trial in Washington DC right now. He met with Republicans. He trashed the city of Milwaukee during that meeting, and that's what happened. But he told the crowd, I was there for trial. And they're just like, yeah, go give them hell buddy. These are the dumbest people in this country, possibly the dumbest people on the planet that follow this man that listened to this man that believe everything he says. But Trump's lies are of course, out of control. And the worst part about it is these are lies that he tells, not just to dupe voters, right? That's bad enough. He's telling the lies to himself. He's trying to convince himself that he is not as much of a failure as the world knows he is. So he's saying these lies not just to hoodwink the people in the crowd, to hoodwink himself. He is trying to fool himself to soothe his own ego. So these lies serve a narcissistic purpose for him so that he can feel better about being such a piece of crap. So that doesn't excuse any of this, but it does make it a hell of a lot sadder when you realize that Trump's not just lying to get people to vote for him.
