As the cleanup in Whatcom County continues after major flooding in the region, debris disposal sites set up by county officials have been filled with the belongings and livelihoods of hundreds of families. The main hub for the four collection locations is at Recycling and Disposal Services in Ferndale, where a huge open warehouse was the site of massive mound of waterlogged debris on Sunday night. Crews said they had moved upwards of 300 tons of debris on Sunday morning to make way for another huge pile to form by nightfall. “Over the weekend, these past two days, we had 1,600 vehicles drop off debris," explained Amy Cloud with the Whatcom County Sheriff's Offices Department of Emergency Management. Two of the locations are in Sumas and Everson, which are among the hardest hit towns in all of western Washington. Similarly, Nooksack and other small towns in that region were also met with fierce flood levels. -------------------------------------------------- For more on the story: https://komonews.com/news/local/hundr...
