For today’s case, Dr. Emer is going to be performing female facial sculpting on a female patient to give the natural contour and shaping back to her face. Our patients that are thinner and more athletic tend to lose volume and structure in their face from exercise and stress more easily so we will be using fillers to revolumize and restructure the face. This female patient loves to have a straight nose with a lifted tip so we will be performing some nose contouring known as liquid rhinoplasty. We will also be using fillers to keep her cheeks elevated, her chin structured and elongated to avoid sagging in the jawline area, and her nasolabial folds softened. Juvederm Ultra Plus is injected into the apple of the cheek to lift the tear trough and give some structure to the apple of her cheek so when she smiles it has a nice highlight to it. We are going all the way to bone just a little since she still has filler in the area from previous injections. For women, Dr. Emer tends to keep the heart-shaped look so he doesn't go too wide on the chin. The heart-shaped look is characterized by having a wider midface with a narrower and more elongated lower face. This is the standard of beauty in Western culture. In Russia, however, the standard of beauty is more of a squared-off face with much larger cheeks, lips, and jaw. Hyaluronic acid fillers last about 6 months realistically in LA because people work out and tend to metabolize the fillers faster. However, according to their clinical trials, the fillers can last 9-12 months.
