Free PDF Instructions: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-1119... This turntable can be motorized with a power functions or powered up medium motor. The gear ratio shown in at the beginning is 180:1. This means the motor must spin 180 revolutions for the turntable to make one complete rotation. The gear ratio between the worm gear and the turntable with external teeth is 60:1 since one worm rotation advances a tooth one position and there are 60 teeth on the turntable piece. The gears connecting the worm shaft and the motor shaft have 24 and 8 teeth respectively. The ratio 24/8 simplifies to 3/1, so the ratio between these axles is 3:1. Multiply 60:1 by 3:1 and you get the overall gear ratio of (60x3):(1x1) = 180:1 The PF or PUP medium motor output axle will spin about 360 RPM when loaded with this turntable. To determine the turntable platform speed, dividing the motor RPM by the gear ratio (360 RPM/180) gives a speed of 2RPM, which is the same as 30 seconds per rotation. The gear ratio can be reduced by replacing the 8 and 24 tooth gears with 12 and 20 tooth gears respectively. This reduces the overall gear ratio to 100:1 speeding up the rotation time to about 17 seconds (3.5 RPM) If an even faster rotation is desired, the motor can be mounted in place of the 24 tooth gear (see end of video), further reducing the ratio to 60:1, which results in a 10 second rotation (6 RPM) If an even faster speed is desired, the worm gear should be replaced with a spur gear instead of making the worm gear spin faster than the motor.
