Alec is the one to find and try to revive him, while Isabelle calls Catarina for help. Sadly, their efforts prove unsuccessful, and Magnus quietly slips away shortly after, with Alec by his side. The last time they’d seen each other, Alec had been hurt, angry, and hard on Magnus; accusing him of having kept things from him that put his family at risk. From Clary, however, he learns that, as far as Magnus was concerned, none of that seemed to matter to him. Instead, she tells him about how powerless Magnus had felt while they were asked to wait on the sidelines to ensure the Downworld’s safety, and about Magnus’ own admission that he didn’t care what happened to him – so long as they found Alec and he was okay.
