Video of our visit to the Krosniewice system in 2007, which was to be the last time we saw regular traffic here. At this stage the line saw freight traffic from Ostrowy via Krosniewice (reversal) to Brzesc Kujawski and, in theory at least, passenger services from Krosniewice north west to Dabrowice and Wielka Wies, north east to Ostrowy and south to Krzewie. Outline history of the routes is: Brzesc Kujawski to Smolsk: built to 750mm gauge in 1907 by Cukrownia Brzesc Kujawski as part of its link to the main line at Wloclawek. Taken over by PKP after World War I. Passenger service ceased in 1978 when Smolsk - Wloclawek closed. Smolsk to Boniewo: built to 750mm gauge in 1910 by Cukrownia Brzesc Kujawski. In 1914 the German military added a third rail at 600mm gauge as part of their field railway from Matwy to Strykow. Taken over by PKP after World War I. Passenger services between Smolsk and Jerzmanowo ceased in 1978, between Jerzmanowo and Boniewo in 1992. Boniewo to Krosniewice: built ito 600mm gauge in 1914 by the German military. Taken over by PKP after World War I and converted to 750mm gauge in the 1920s. Passenger services between Boniewo and Cetty ended in 1996 and were later cut back further to Wielka Wies before ending completely in 2001 shortly before PKP ceased all narrow gauge operations. Krosniewice to Ostrowy: built to 750mm gauge in 1910 by Cukrownia Ostrowy. Probably converted to 600mm gauge by Germans in 1914, then became mixed 600/750mm gauge in 1923 after being taken over by PKP. Passenger services ceased in 2001. Krosniewice to Krzewie: built to 750mm gauge in 1910 by Cukrownia Ostrowy. Converted to 600mm gauge in 1914 by German military. Taken over by PKP after World War I and third rail added to 750mm gauge in 1923. Third rail removed 1951 to make it just 750mm gauge. All traffic ceased 1996. Passenger services resumed 1999 but ceased again in 2001. SKPL resumed services on the above routes from late 2002 but they all ceased by the end of March 2008.
