The duo was founded by pianist Alessandro Sgobbio and saxophonist Emiliano Vernizzi. Pericopes+1 normally means that drummer Nick Wight accompanies the band, but in this breathtaking performance their ‘+1’ drummer is Ruben Bellavia, an internationally acclaimed, young & talented musician. Pericopes+1 sound? Let’s safely say that we can throw away the rule book: an eclectic mix of contemporary jazz from the New York scene, post prog-rock and traces of traditional bolts and flashes from a more European sensibility. Thanks as well to a wealth of experience jamming between Paris, New York and Italy, and over 200 concerts played worldwide, they have won acclaim from their peers and the music press as an example of the myriad of different influences in jazz music today.
