Preamp Tubes Comparison (Phase Shifter V5) China vs Sovtek vs Electro Harmonix vs Mullard (Part 1)

🤘😈🤘 Hallo Youtubers, I’ve decided to make a video today about the preamp tubes of a guitar amps. Since there is debate which and how the tubes can change the sound of your amp, the power tubes, the gain preamp tubes or the phase shifter tubes, I was wondering too. A while ago I bought an amp, Marshall JVM410H, used one. When I bought it the guy tels me that he have chanched all the preamp tubes because this is how he thinks that the amp sound best. My main amp is Marshall TSL2000 so I had never that much of a time to spend on my JVM to realy see and hear on what is he capebel of. Last night I had a rehearsal with my band and I’ve take it to the rehearsal room and he sounded terible. I was unable to find a good sound for me. I personaly like the classic Marshall tone just with a bit more lowend mids and a bit more bottom end. So with no more wondering I’ve removed all the preamp tubes that where inside and I put the stock one because luckily the guy have gived to me when I bough it (that are two Marshall relabelled gain tubes from JJ I think, ECC83 VLVE-00067 and two relabelled Shuguang ECC83 VLVE-00055). Not so lucky I was missing one and this was the Phase Shifter one. There is 5 preamp tubes and 4 power amp tubes in JVM410H, V1,V2,V3,V4 are the power tubes, V5 is the Phase Shifter tube, V6,V7 are the Gain tubes, V8 is the Cathode Follower tube and the V9 is the tube for the reverb and the loop recovery. I’ll make a several videos with changing the power tubes, the phase shifter and the gain tubes just to show you guys and to hear your openion abut the sound that will change with changing different tubes. So today is time for Phase shifter V5 tubes comperison. I’ll try out 1 Chines (no branded), 1 Mullard (russian), 1 Sovtek (russian) and 2 Electro Harmonix (russian). The two EH tubes looks different inside, they are 12AX7EH but when you look inside there is a cap on top of everything and on the first one it sits very low,close to the electronics and on the second one sits away above, high of the electronics. I’ll named it in the video as EH 12AX7EH low and EH 12AX7EH high. I don’t really know if that matters at all, but you can hear and decide for yourself. There wil be two parts of this video, in the first one you will hear low gain channel more of a crunchy sound and on the second one you’ll hear high gain channel. So this is part one with first part playing a riff and then second part playing a open chords. The gear beside the JVM will be Gibson Les Paul with 57 and 57 plus pickups(will be played for all parts on the neck position which is 57 classic humbucker) and Marshall 1960AX cabinet with Celestion G12M greenbacks. Ooh yeah, sorry for my sloppy playing here and there this experiment is really about the sound and the character of the amp and how he will respond and sounds.
