Filmed in the evening in early Autumn (October 2022). Continuation from "Long Preston to Burnley". Starts as we leave Burnley in Lancashire via Ormerod Road. Our intention was to hit the A646 as soon as possible and follow the valley bottom alongside the River Calder, but satnav lady had other plans for us, and took us up over the tops. Scenic, but not quite the plan we had - I had wanted to drive through all the villages and towns, including Todmorden, but satnav lady said NO. Thankfully the route that we did follow was via roads that I haven't seen since my childhood, so turned out to be a nice trip down memory lane! Passed through Blackshaw Head on The Long Causeway, Slack Bottom, Slack Top, round the outskirts of Heptonstall, then down to and through the well known Hebden Bridge. Journey ends as we pull into a small car park off Burnley Road in Mytholmroyd, and I have tacked on about a minute of footage of St Michael's Church, the clockface of which used to 'stare' into my grandparents' windows when I was a child and give me the creeps. Many of my ancestors are buried in the graveyard there. Most of the wall on this side of the river never used to exist; before the floods of the past decade there was a row of shops there, but these had to be pulled down to widen the river channel and strengthen flood defences. Journey is via minor/local roads and the A646. The continuation of the journey is in the next video: "Mytholmroyd to Huddersfield North Premier Inn". In this vid: West Yorkshire, Calderdale, villages & mill towns, classic Yorkshire architecture, clouds, big hills, navigation chat, lovely English scenery and British countryside, winding roads, farms, sheep, dry stone walls.
