The Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 is an evolution of an earlier design, that has resulted in a significantly longer fuselage when compared to the original. This increase in length results in an increased risk of tailstrike, especially during the landing phase. Pilot Monitoring must take corrective action if the pitch attitude reaches 6 degrees. With 28 ft of the wing blown by the prop wash, rate of decent can be very accurately controlled using small adjustments to power and with negligible effect on the aircraft speed.
