The Ezidis’ Sacred Practices, Core Beliefs and Rituals in the Face of Multigenerational Trauma Webinar Thursday, December 11, 2025, 1:00–3:00 PM EST / 10:00 AM–12:00 PM PST / 11:00 AM–1:00 PM MST / 12:00–2:00 PM CST / 6:00–8:00 PM GMT / 7:00–9:00 PM CET / 8:00–10:00 PM EET, IST, CAT / 9:00–11:00 PM AST Held in advance of the Ezidi Three-Day Fast (كوردى: جەژنا رۆژیێن ئێزى, عربي: عيد صوم الأيزيدين), this ICMGLT webinar introduces the sacred practices, core beliefs and rituals that have united and sustained the Ezidi people throughout their 4,000-year history. Expert panelists will explore the meanings of being Ezidi through reciting the holy texts, and presenting the cosmological, natural, social, philosophical and spiritual dimensions of the Ezidi holy days. Interpretation into Arabic and Kurdish will be provided Speakers: Sharo Ibrahim Sharo Ibrahim (born 1963) is a retired schoolteacher and longtime servant of the Lalish Temple, the holiest Ezidi pilgrimage site. He taught Ezidism for 21 years in Shariya’s schools and remains active in community ceremonies and sacred recitations. He has participated in four international conferences, playing an important role in presenting Ezidi identity to the world. Pir Mamou Othman A researcher, lecturer, and the Founder of the Institute of Psychotherapy and Psychotraumatology at the University of Duhok, Kurdistan, Dr. Othman has degrees in English Literature, Psychology, and Political Science from the University of Baghdad and the Free University of Berlin. He served as a Legal Interpreter and Minister of State for Civil Society in Baghdad and was Chief of International Relations for the Kurdistan Regional Government. Dalia Jameel Dalia Jameel, a 25-year-old master’s student at Leibniz Universität Hannover in Germany, is pursuing a Master of Arts in the North American Studies program. Dalia is originally from Iraq and is deeply passionate about literature and its power to address complex social and cultural issues. Through her studies, she focuses particularly on Yazidi-related issues and the injustices they have endured during the genocide. Dr. Majid Hassan Ali Having earned his doctorate on religious minorities in Iraq at the University of Bamberg, Germany, Majid is an associate member of the Center for Yezidi Studies at the Giorgi Tsereteli Institute of Oriental Studies, ILIA State University, Tbilisi, Georgia and editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Yazidi Studies (https://yezidistudies.org/). He studies challenges faced by religious minorities in Muslim-majority countries and published on Kurdish political movements, Yazidi identity, extremism, migration, and the enslavement of Yazidi women. Moderator: Dr. Yael Danieli A Clinical psychologist, traumatologist, victimologist and psychohistorian, Dr. Danieli is Founder, Executive Director and Senior Representative to the United Nations of the International Center for MultiGenerational Legacies of Trauma (ICMGLT); Director, Group Project for Holocaust Survivors and their Children and Past-President, International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.
