After surgery, you should get up and start walking 🚶♀️ right away to reduce the risk of blood clots and lung issues post operatively. For the first few days after surgery, you should try to take a few 5 to 10 minute walks a day. You can gradually build up to longer walks based on how you feel. Do the best you can, but don’t overexert yourself. You can get back into the gym after 4 to 6 weeks, but before then, avoid lifting anything over 15 to 20 pounds that might engage your core. The exercise you do should be low impact, like yoga 🧘 or walking. After 4 to 6 weeks, you can do resistance training to help you burn fat while maintaining muscle. You don’t have to lift heavy 🏋️, especially if resistance training is new to you. Good options to start with include bodyweight exercises like squats or low weight, high rep free weight exercises. Your goal is to build an exercise routine that you can maintain long term 🗓️ without burning out. Go slow and build attainable goals that you can keep up with and build on. @dfwbariatrics DFW Bariatrics & General Surgery dfwbariatricsurgery.com 469-620-0222 #bariatricsurgery #bariatricsurgeon #bariatricrecovery #bariatriccommunity #workoutroutine #bariatric #bariatrics #bariatricsurgery #bariatricsurgerysupport #bariatricsurgeryjourney #bariatricsurgerycommunity #bariatriccommunity #weightloss #weightlosssurgery #weightlosstransformation #weightlosstips #weightlossjourney #weightlossmotivation #weightlossinspiration #weightlosscommunity #weightlosssurgerycommunity #weightlosssurgerysupport #weightlosssurgeryjourney #bariatricexercise #weightlossexercise #exercise #postopcare #bariatriccare #bariatricpostopcare #bariatricpostop
