Ash Wednesday Worship with ashes worship and a soup supper on Ash Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at 5 p.m. We will begin Lent, the church’s 40 days of intentionally preparing for Easter, with a 35-minute worship service and the imposition of ashes for all ages. The service will include readings and reflections on our Lenten theme: When you walk this way with Jesus… If Ash Wednesday is a new tradition for you or your family, it may be helpful to know that the ashes are made from palm branches, which were waved at Jesus’ final entry into Jerusalem. When placed on the forehead, the minister says, “Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return.” This is a visible reminder that we are human and that we belong to God always. Please assure young children that the ashes are not hot and that they can be placed on the hand if that is more comfortable.
