This continues the modifications to upgrade a very cheap NW/BM 700/800 etc. type fake condenser mic - all the way to a large diaphragm true condenser microphone, in this video. [See the content index at the end for the sections] Links to the schematics & more information are on my web site, here: https://robert-jenkins.co.uk/site/ind... In part 2 I fitted the prototype upgrade PCB with it configured to use the original electret mic capsule. It was giving audio but as I was not monitoring it "live" while making the video, I have no idea what the quality was like. This part completes the full rebuild using a 34mm condenser mic capsule and further testing & debugging of the prototype PCB. Part 4 will be short video a direct audio comparison between the resulting microphone and my best commercial condenser mic, the MXL V87. A batch of the final PCBs that incorporate the modifications I found to be needed while building and testing the prototypes arrived between recording and editing this video; these will be available via ebay and with build instructions, schematics and parts lists posted on my web site, once I've finished and checked the assembly documentation. I'll also post videos showing the construction and installation of these separately and comparisons to an unmodified mic, once I have another donor mic to work with. This is the link to the 3D model for the mic capsule mount I used in the video, which is perfect for the job; and thank to Tom Benedict aka "ViewUpHere" for making this design available. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:285... 00:00:00 - Intro 00:00:23 - Case removal and planned mods 00:00:46 - The new condenser capsule and its mount 00:01:10 - Removing the temporary resistor 00:01:28 - Adding the phase splitter input link 00:02:10 - Old capsule & mount removal 00:02:55 - Fitting the new mount 00:04:15 - Threading the capsule wires 00:05:37 - Connecting the capsule 00:08:17 - Adding the power supply board 00:13:45 - More squeaky screws 00:15:00 - Power on! 00:15:55 - Voltage tests 00:17:10 - Reconnecting the capsule 00:18:18 - More voltage tests, JFET bias adjusted 00:18:28 - Phase splitter bias?? 00:19:12 - Wrong resistor. 00:19:28 - Off topic, "sticky" resistors 00:20:02 - On topic, rechecking voltages 00:20:43 - Audio! 00:21:10 - Refitting the power PCB 00:21:15 - Fitting the mic head cover 00:22:30 - And fitting the mic casing 00:23:20 - Assembled and giving output 00:24:47 - Thanks for watching!
