The first international project "Sing with MED-EL!" was established in Sri Lanka. Within the project children with MED-EL cochlear implants were introduced to a patented speech and language rehabilitation method. This method designed for hearing-impaired children was developed by a professional singer and a mother of a CI child - Svetlana Bournos, together with Prof. and Senior Researcher Inna Koroleva. It has already proved to be highly effective in rehabilitation process throughout Russian language sphere and is now being adopted for English speaking countries. During a long and fruitful preparation process a team of professionals monitored by the author of the method a cycle of songs specifically created for hearing and speech development was finalized. It can from now on be used to significantly intensify the rehabilitation process for CI users in English speaking areas. With support of weekly online or face to face lessons combined with short and enjoyable daily practice with the songs videos CI users, especially children, can develop auditory memory, speech breathing, intonation, significantly improve prononciation and pace of speech. For two months children from Sri Lanka were practicing singing online with a composer, lyricist and professional singer of Sri Lankan descent - Nicole Müller. She was couched and supervised by the method’s author to apply it brilliantly in Sri Lanka. Due to the remarkable results achieved during the two months of training, all the participants of this online project were invited to partake in the production of a professional music video. The premiere of this music video occurred at the Round Table Event on April 9, 2024, dedicated to the topic of "Empowering the Hearing-healthcare Sector of Sri Lanka." The live performance of the children marked the culmination of this landmark event. Lyrics by Nicole Müller, Music by Nikita Sedenkov and Svetlana Bournos, Project managed by Alexandra Andronova, Camera & Editing by David Ibragimov, Honorary Consul and Regional Manager Christian Steppan.
