Today we are taking a look at the AGM-78A Standard ARM or STARM for short on the DCS F-4E Phantom II from Heatblur. The AGM-78A Standard Arm was the product of a crash program undertaken by the US Navy and General Dynamics in 1967 after the shortfalls of the AGM-45 Shrike came to the forefront during Rolling Thunder Iron Hand Missions. The US Navy desperately needed a longer range Anti-Radiation Missile to be carried by its new A-6B Electric Intruders to counter the threat of the SA-2 Guideline batteries over Route Packs 4, 5 and 6! The AGM-78A Standard Arm on the DCS F-4E Phantom II fills a glaring Gap in the blue side's SEAD and DEAD capabilities between the early AGM-45 Shrike of the 1960's and the AGM-88 HARM of the 1980's and brings along with it some awesome new gameplay elements to our DCS SEAD pilots thanks to the White Phosphorus Marking Flare integrated into the warhead of the AGM-78.
