Sweet mid-sixties cumbia from Colombia. It's the first release on Discos Asora. The Quarteto del Monaco was in fact a quintet led by guitarist and director Angel Monsalvo. It also includes Nene García, Elías Paz (vocals), Carlos Guardo (bongos) and Andrés García (tumbadora). The Cuarteto del Monaco was the house band of the Heladerìa Monaco accross the El Prado Hotel in Barranquilla in the sixties. On wednesdays they were also playing on Emisora Atlantico, where they met Adolfo Echeverrìa en Nury Borras. Nury Borrás was invited to sing on both sides of this record. Adolfo Echeverrìa gave them the B-side, "Las cuatro fiestas", a filler that eventually caught the attention and became a classic.
