Liz was born on the family farm in Lios a Phuca, near Bandon in 1958 – one of 11 children. Very happy childhood days on the farm, but lost her mother at age 13, and her father died tragically when she was 20. She moved out of home then and into a flat in Bandon, before heading to UK for a short time and then back to Cork again. Her son Shane was born in 1980, and they moved around a lot for his first few years, until they got a three-bedroom council house in Bandon. They lived there for about 15years, before surrendering the house, and then a while later in 2009 she was offered a place at Mill Court. She values the ground floor location and the security of being in the apartment block. It also means a lot to have just a small apartment to manage, rather than a big three-bedroom house. She is so happy now with her forever home and loves where she lives.
