In this video the basicity and reactivity of heterocyclic compounds has been described in details. The basicity of different heterocyclic compounds like three, four, five and six membered heterocycles has been compared. The basicity order among pyrrole, pyridine, pyrimidine, imidazole and piperidine has been described. The fused ring heterocycles like indole, quinolone and isoquinoline basicity has also been described. The reasons of smaller and greater basicity of these heterocyclic compounds has been well explained. The reactivity of these heterocyclic compounds towards electrophilic as well as nucleophilic attacks is also the part of this video. The reason of greater reactivity of five membered heterocycles pyrrole, furan and thiophene than six membered pyridine towards electrophilic substitution has been explained in this video.
