(I had to replace some of the performance music later in the video due to copyright claims) This video mostly just highlights the fun parts because I want to show you how fun and wonderful this experience is, even though it's incredibly challenging. The end of the video highlights our "Chinese Nite" which is our performance showcase which was a bunch of fun! It was also really nice to perform with others and learn a skill. Many of the Extracurricular Activities plan to do performances as a way to practice towards a goal. I performed a fan form with the Tai chi Group. Week 5 and 6 were interesting. I was really comfortable in Chinese at this point and it just felt right to speak it all the time which was awesome. The workload got to be really overwhelming at this point for me and I just tried my best to enjoy the experience and work hard, but not work myself too hard trying to get good results on all the exams and quizzes. I did put a lot of effort into my homework, which I usually got good grades in, but I'm just not good at recognizing or writing characters, and that's ok. I still find it hard to accept these shortcomings of mine in Chinese. But you can't get too down on yourself or else you won't make any progress and you'll have a negative attitude! You should learn things for yourself and not compare yourself to your classmates that seem to "effortlessly" (they definitely work hard) get good grades and have more free time then you. (Even though it is definitely frustrating). My fifth and sixth week at Middlebury's 2 Month Summer Chinese Immersion Program as a Level 3 Student! This video is meant to document my experience as a Level 3 Chinese Student. This episode features less on studying and more on the fun things we'd experience in this crazy Chinese Vermont. (Also note that my Chinese is not perfect, but I hope you'll see an improvement week after week as this series progresses!) This program is a serious investment of time AND money, so I wanted to make this series to help those who are interested learn first-hand what the experience is all about. Catch Episode 1 here: • My First Week At Middlebury Chinese Immers... This is actually my second time in the program and took place Summer 2019. The first time I went to Middlebury's Summer Chinese Immersion Program was the summer of 2015 when I was a Level 2 Student. The different levels are as follows from least to most advanced: Level 1, 2, 2.5, 3, 4. There is a large jump between each level, which is why a Level 2.5 exists. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience both times, although this program is NOT for the faint of heart. You cannot communicate in any other language than the target language (Chinese) the entire time, and the 2 month course is equal to an entire academic year of experience at a University Language Program. Any questions, please comment on the video below! I'd be happy to answer them as best as I can! Episode 5 will be coming.
