Tibial Osteotomy Taylor Spatial Frame and Sleeping Positions - Part 3

Tibial Osteotomy, Taylor Spatial Frame, Sleeping Position Experience and what works, some tips. These videos are my experience in having two taylor spatial frames (halo's) as part of my tibial osteotomy. I attempt to go over clothing, sleeping, cleaning, medication, and other items. I am a patient and NOT a doctor, so these are my experiences and advice and have NOT been approved by any licensed professional. There was not a lot of information out there when I had mine from patients, so wanted to include these videos for some experience. My first operations for bow legged, bowed legs, etc. was 11 years ago. I waited as long as possible until I could not walk more than a block without wincing in pain. I went to four doctors for this condition. The first 3 all wanted to do some sort of knee replacement. I was about 44 years of age at the time. I decided to go to Stanford for one last opinion. A tibial osteotomy was recommended at Stanford in order to save the knee as once you cut it up, you have no other options. However, it is quite the surgery but I was very glad I chose that direction. After 11 years, the other legged (which was not quite as bowed) progressed to the same out of alignment as the first where the inside of the knee simply could not support my weight and I was in the same position as the first knee. I decided to to the same route. However, the second surgery (11 years later) took 2 1/2 months longer to recover. Easier on medication usage but very difficult mentally. I am super active and this was quite the blow at 55 to my mental health. I challenged myself every day and was off the medications after about 6 weeks (as opposed to 3-1/2 months the first time). I was NOT walking again until month 5 though. At 5.5 months I could walk with little discomfort. I will likely have the frame off by month 6.5. I was in the pool at 5 months just treading water. Biking is impossible (even the Peloton) as the frame gets in the way of bending the knee for the pedal stroke. Hope everyone learns something from these videos or at least makes a wise decision for themselves. The main reason I chose this route was for the permanent solution (not the easiest). I want to save my knee replacement option for when I totally destroy all of it, not just the 20%. The first operation 11 years ago was one of the best decisions I made for myself and have had no problems yet. Hoping to get the same result for the current one and so far it feels great (except for the fixator that is still on for the next couple weeks). Enjoy and good luck to everyone!
