Today, I'm excited to introduce the LuzScan —a 97 CRI LED light source with a built‑in 35mm film scanner, crafted for photographers who want to bring their analog images into the digital world with clarity, color accuracy, and joy. Designed as the perfect companion for DSLR and mirrorless scanning setups, the LuzScan is intentionally simple: easy to print, easy to assemble, and exceptional in value. You'll receive STL files for both the Solo (single‑row LED strip) and (double‑row LED strip) versions. The Solo delivers up to 5W of power, while the Duo doubles that to 10W—both running on 24V from a standard wall adapter or even a 20V power‑delivery power bank when you want freedom from the outlet. What truly sets the LuzScan apart is the quality of its light . A thick opal acrylic diffuser and carefully engineered spacing create beautifully soft, uniform illumination—ideal for extracting every nuance from your film. I use a 97 CRI LED strip for faithful color reproduction, but you're free to use any 8mm, 95+ CRI strip you prefer. And thanks to solderless connectors, the entire build stays clean and approachable. The film scanner itself embraces simplicity: no knobs, no mechanisms, nothing to get in your way. It keeps your film perfectly flat—just guide it through with your hands. Whether you're scanning cut strips or entire uncut rolls, the LuzScan adapts effortlessly. You'll receive three masks: a standard 35mm mask, a sprocket‑friendly mask, and a wide panoramic mask that even accommodates true 65mm‑wide images. Four silicone anti‑slip pads keep everything steady while you work. And this is just the beginning. If enough people are excited, I'll design masks for medium and large format film as well. If there's interest in a matching copy stand, I'll bring that to life too. The LuzScan isn't just a tool—it's an invitation to rediscover your film with precision, creativity, and a sense of craftsmanship. Let your creativity take shape. Ready to build your own? The STL files are available on Cults3D.
