In June 1943, a single American B-17 bomber undertook a suicide mission over Bougainville. Its tail number was 41-2666, better known as "Old 666." Piloted by Captain Jay Zeamer and Bombardier Joseph Sarnoski, this "cursed" plane had been pulled from a scrapyard and modified with 19 machine guns—turning it into the most heavily armed bomber in the Pacific. Alone and without fighter escort, the crew of Old 666 found themselves surrounded by 17 elite Japanese Zero fighters. What followed was a 45-minute dogfight that defied the laws of physics and survival. This is the true story of the "Eager Beavers" and the most decorated flight crew in US history.
