Last week I purchased a Nintendo Wii along with a few games at a local reto gaming store, which means Wii content will be on the channel. One of the games I purchased was a 2007 port of the 2004 arcade game The Fast And The Furious from Raw Thrills but without the F&F license. Midway Games planned to bring the 2004 F&F arcade game to home consoles as they hired Just Games Interactive to develop the port, however in the process they could not get the Fast & Furious license as NAMCO and Eutechnyx held the rights for a unrelated PS2 (PlayStation 2) and PSP (PlayStation Portable) game based on the 2006 film The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift, which was released the same year. So Midway decided to brand it under the Cruis'n series under license from Nintendo and release it exclusively to the Wii, which makes sense to me as The Fast And The Furious game from 2004 was developed by the same team that worked on Cruis'n USA, Cruis'n World, and Cruis'n Exotica. So yep, this is Cruis'n for the Wii. A pretty odd modified port of The Fast And The Furious with all F&F references removed (except for the Race Wars track name for some unknown reason) alongside a ton of bugs like tire screeching sounds when it shouldn't, wheelie flips not working half the time, a Circuit mode that let's the player race all on 12 courses in one go, all the licensed cars from the 2004 game, and atrocious track loading times. It's playable, but very odd to say the least. If you can handle the tire screeching sounds, then enjoy this first Random Races video of Cruis'n on the Wii. I paused recording after every race to avoid selection menus and primarily track loading screens due to how stupidly long they are.
